It keeps telling them that their password is incorrect when they just used the same credentials to sign in the the exam etc. Any advice…I already wrote to support and haven't found a solution anywhere online.

So I've been trying to create a forward fuselage for a RC aircraft. I've got a decent amount of time working with lofts, especially with make wings and alike. however with this particular problem I'm running into the loft generating unsymmetrically, I've been playing around, trying different sketches, matching up each sketch. doing guides and connections. is my only solution to add more guides, or do a half split down the centreline then just mirror the surface? I've browsed the forums but I've yet to find one applicable.

Here you can see the problem in question.

to teach my students about the proper use of variables and expressions. Last November I had no issues with this content but today we discovered as a class that the Creating and Using a Variable Studio exercise was not working as described in the lesson. We were able to download a copy of the document with no problem and then create our variable studio but it did not copy the variables from the studio over to the part studio for the large cup. When I duplicated the part studio the variables worked fine.

I tried this with other documents I had and experienced the same issue. After some trial and error I discovered that in order to get the variable studio to be copied to part studios I already had created I had to at a minimum reload the webpage which refreshed the document. This was tested on various computers in windows and chrome with same same results. The issue is the learning center assignment does not mention having to reload only going back to the TAB. I assume it was some coding done somewhere that does not have the screen fully refresh even though when you click from the variables studio to a part studio that was already created it shows loading studio data. This happened to most of my students today.

Thank you,

Richard "Joe" Mitchell

Academic Instructor

The Apprentice School-HII-NNS

Hi everyone, I've been working through the model mania parts and have been getting a different result with the same procedure as given in the solution. I am aware that this is usually done in SOLIDWORKS so it could be a Onshape specific feature.

I'm trying to loft a feature with start and end conditions set to none. Attached are photos of the desired result on SOLIDWORKS and my result on Onshape.
The front view looks fine but the right view shows curvature in the loft where there should be none.

Any ideas on how to have the loft connect straight with the lower part?

To finish this exercise you are to achieve 0.445kg mass. I was only able to achieve 0.423kg mass. The closest answer for me to choose from was 0.432kg mass on the test so I chose it and was awarded an incorrect answer. However on examination of the Onshape build found that the back two holes didn't penetrate the Cover where they were suppose to have according to the exercise instructions thereby providing a larger mass of 0.445kg vs 0.423kg in the case of my interpretation of the instructions - 6 holes that fully penetrated the cover body. The un-removed drill hole material would be the contributing factor of the extra mass 0.445 - 0.423 = 0.022kg. I am leaving this exercise incorrect and moving on. I do hope some admin is able to rectify so that I can achieve the necessary score to be successful in this exercise. Please be in touch 😊. Let me know if there is a simpler way to place the drawing points for holes without having the construction lines to determine these points too. I just notice that there are no construction lines shown in the exercise version and wondered how they were able to achieve this without the offset measurements of 4mm and 16mm, well at least without anything showing.

My Drawing:

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/94f6f9b36e53a0302d4862ba/w/1f54b92e5956078c2d6d221b/e/a254ba93c1292a59a20a250e?renderMode=0&uiState=696775b81de1c41128745639

Exercise Drawing:

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/98bd7e98615300a85a1ffd66/w/35e9d45e3c57885b36a2259b/e/672109dba6b1cdf2447e628d?renderMode=0&uiState=6967788a37be6547213ea22b

Hi,

I come from Fusion 360, where I got in the habit of using the "project geometry onto sketch" feature.

I figured I could do the same in OnShape, but it doesn't appear that "Use" is meant for the same thing.

Here are the problems i'm encountering when I use the "use" feature in OnShape:

the projected geometry is unconstrained. For example, If I project the cross section of a hollow cylinder (pipe), the resulting square is made of lines with edged that are not bound together, and I have to add these constraints myself.

There does not appear to be any way to get the "use" tool to project all the cross-section geometry of a body, only each of its faces on a per-click basis. Working with a pipe, I have to manually select the outser cylinder face, and the two flat faces on each side.

When building sketch geometry anchored on the projected geometry, modifying the geometry of the body use for the projection often breaks the sketch. Constraints fail to resolve, and I often have to delete the proejction, re-project and re-contrain. This has led me to designing in a roundabout way, using "proxy" construction geometry. For example, instead of using the projection of a pipe in my sketch, I create a driven variable measuring the outer diameter of that pipe and then draw a construction line of with the value. I build my sketch geometry on this construction line as a proxy for the projected geometry. Then mate the original body onto that construction line so that everything aligns. My background is not in CAD, so maybe this is the expected process rather than using the actual body? It feels like a lot of extra boilerplate.

Are the above problems expected, by design? Am I attempting to use a tool that goes against bad practices? Is this simply an area when the OnShape team hasn't gottent around to making improvemetns yet ?

Here is an example design where I've experienced these issues:

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/73b4848809bc10499f437dec/w/1a292b706c06d4986e233158/e/59145b9630d13329bc5bb145?configuration=Connector_Length_Override%3D0.0%2Bmeter%3BList_9eop9BmzEuLZ1g%3DDefault%3BList_DRkxR6QuIfx5vb%3D_45_&renderMode=0&uiState=69401a787389764c8957ae1c

It's a pipe addapter that is build off of a configurable pipe section imported two, with a hollow loft in between.

My initial design use a projection of the two derived pipes in the "Inlet & Outlet Relative position profile" sketch, but this ketp breaking when I changed configuration (especially the pipe's Angle. Going between 90° an 0° would break often)

I have already started this lesson from scratch 3 times after encountering problems with previous steps, so I am certain that I have followed the instructions to a T. Here on STEP 7 is where I am having difficulty. After selecting the four edges, the Fill gives me the error "Could not meet tangency constraints at highlighted points" where sketch 8 meets sketch 6, and sketch 6 meets Fill 1. If I leave the Continuity at Position, the Fill has no problem solving. I can see the bump in curvature near the front bottom edge of the fill when I orbit around the model. Sketch 8 has tangency constraints on both the upper and lower 2-point splines. I didn't make Sketch 6. I cannot see where the missing tangency lies. Please advise.

I've been struggling using this in my classroom as the interface is not entirely intuitive. I've managed to find some documents and assign them as copied documents, but I'm stuggling with courses. For example, I'd like my students to go through the:

Introduction to Sketching - (link) But there is no document. I don't see a means of putting a link as an assignment, nor do I see the ability to assign the course. I did manage to find something similar with a document, but I'm running into other courses I'd like to assign, but run into the same problem (i.e. Introduction to Part Studios (link))

How are other teachers here managing the content. Are you ignoring the OnShape system entirely?

Thank you.
