BETA: REPLICATE ANNOTATIONS

This update sees the Beta release of Replicate annotations for drawings. Replicate annotations uses machine learning and probabilistic matching to automate the transfer of annotations, including dimensions, tolerances, layout, and placement, from one drawing view to another, even in a different drawing. Although it uses machine learning techniques, it only looks at the model at run-time when you invoke the command; It does not train on your data. We’re truly excited about this new beta technology and the possibilities it may unlock in the future. We encourage you to try it out and provide feedback on where it could be improved, what doesn’t work the way you expected, and what you would love to see next.

Onshape provides four new units to display on your detail drawings. These new units are Centimeters, Meters, Feet (with decimals), and Yards. MBD - STEP AP242 EXPORT

In addition to Onshape sharing and Publication capabilities for downstream stakeholders, Onshape MBD also supports exporting as STEP AP242. The AP242 format can include 3D PMI data for direct read into inspection software and tools, CMM programming, and more.

TWIST AND SCALE FOR SWEEP

New Twist and Scale options for Sweep provide new ways to control the profile of a sweep along its path. Twist provides three different methods to define the total number of rotations that the profile will make along the sweep path. Scale on the other hand allows you to specify the overall scale change of the profile from the beginning of the sweep to the end. These new sweep options will unlock new design possibilities when creating sweeps that may have previously required more complex surfacing or lofts.

OFFSET PLANES BY CURVES

Offset planes can now be created with the selection of circular or elliptical curve segments. These segments can be from sketch entities, model edges, or segments of more complex curves like the Routing curve. This new creation method eliminates unnecessary modeling steps and features.

REPLICATE ASSEMBLY SECTION-VIEW IN IN-CONTEXT PART STUDIO

Now when choosing to edit in context from an assembly with an active section view, the display of the section will be carried over to the Part Studio for In-context modeling. EDUCATION ENTERPRISE

SUPPORT FOR SCHEDULED ASSIGNMENTS

Educators can now schedule assignments in advance. On the assignment details page, educators can opt into scheduling to set a publish and/or close date.  When the publish date and time are reached, the assignment will go live and move to an “In progress” state. Likewise, they can provide a date for when the assignment will be set to a “Closed” state. When the assignment is moved to a “Closed” state, students will no longer be able to submit from their assignments list.

PART STUDIO IMPROVEMENTS

REVOLVE FEATURE END CONDITIONS

Onshape has introduced new end conditions for Revolve features that provide more flexible ways to define how revolve operations terminate. The new options include Up to Next (terminates when intersecting with existing geometry), Up to Part (terminates into a specified part or body), Up to Vertex (terminates at any selected point), and Up to Face (terminates at any specified face). These enhancements streamline the design process by removing the need to manually calculate angles or clean up geometry after creating revolve features.

SKETCH DIALOG REMEMBERS ON/OFF STATE

In the sketch dialog, the Show constraints, Show expressions, and Show errors checkbox on/off state now persists. The state of these settings is remembered on a per user basis across all documents and sessions, and is maintained everywhere in Onshape until changed. This includes both editing old sketches and creating new ones. The Disable imprinting checkbox state persists only when creating a new sketch.

You can now set an Part studio's assembly context to follow one of the assembly’s Named positions. By linking a context to a Named position, Onshape only presents the option to update the Part studio's context when the assembly’s Named position has changed. You may link and unlink a context freely as required, allowing for even clearer control of multiple contexts, even in an assembly with complex motion.

MIRRORED SHEET METAL FLAT PATTERN VIEW

When creating derived, or opposite hand versions of sheet metal parts using Assembly mirror, Onshape now automatically provides the flat pattern for those parts. This eliminates the need to reference the original reference part's flat pattern for manufacturing purposes.

ONSHAPE-ARENA CONNECTION

AUTOMATIC CREATION OF SHEET METAL DXF ON RELEASE SYNC

When a sync operation occurs at the creation of a release, Onshape now automatically generates a DXF of the flat pattern for any Sheet metal parts contained in the release candidate. The DXF file(s) are displayed in the Files view in Arena after being synced.



NOTE: While enabled in Onshape at this release, this improvement will not be functional in your environment until an update to Arena is completed. Currently, that update is scheduled to be complete on or before January 11th, 2026. The update has been completed successfully, and this feature is now available for all Onshape-Arena connected environments.

CAM STUDIO IMPROVEMENTS

ADAPTIVE CUTTING OPTIONS

CAM Studio has introduced a new datum overrides feature that gives users complete control over assigning work coordinate system identifiers. It is only advised to use this option in the rare scenarios that it is required.

You can now build and export panoramic exr/hdr files for use in a render studio scene. These panoramic renderings represent and the environmental lighting for a scene that you can then use to render your subject in.
Panoramic scenes (such as the default ones provided in Render studio) are otherwise complicated to create, and often require expensive physical hardware to photograph. Being able to define them yourself in a Render studio allows for unmatched control of your lighting environment, for both total unique or very consistent results across multiple renderings.

The Document will still be viewable in Onshape Vision even though it has been closed on Onshape mobile. SIMULATION

OVERRIDDEN MASS

Parts with assigned materials may have their mass overridden manually to allow for missing details or incorrect material properties. Simulation uses the actual material properties and ignores a mass override, so a new warning indicates that the assembly contains parts whose mass has been overridden. Create a custom material with a density that produces the required mass and assign it to the relevant parts.

CURVE APPROXIMATION

The approximation toolset from the Edit curve feature is now available in other curve creation tools: 3D fit spline, Projected curve, Composite curve, Intersection curve, and Offset curve. These curve types often generate heavy or noisy curves due to their geometry inputs, so the Approximate option can be used to smooth the results without having to add a subsequent Edit curve feature.

CREATE VERSION SHORTCUT

Versions define a baseline or a reference to a moment in time to propagate the latest design changes or to branch to explore design alternatives. To make this process faster, a custom shortcut key can now be assigned to create a new version. 


ROTATION ARROW KEYS

The rotation keyboard shortcut modifiers are now consistent with the coarse/precise modifiers for changing values in feature dialogs. The new coarse rotation modifier rotates the screen by 90 degrees.

APPEARANCES

  • Import - Appearances from other Render Studios can be imported into the current Render Studio, either adding or replacing existing appearances. A custom library of appearances can therefore be created in a shared Document and reused to save time and ensure consistency between projects.

SKETCH BEZIER CURVE

Elevating the degree of a Bezier sketch entity increases the number of control points while maintaining the exact geometry. Lowering the degree reduces the number of control points, preserving the geometry where possible and approximating the geometry as closely as possible when exact geometry cannot be maintained.

Two new end conditions have been added to the fillet feature, allowing you to parametrically define partial length fillets. The Entity End type allows you to select a reference at which to terminate the fillet. MASS PROPERTY CALCULATION WITH ITEMS EXCLUDED FROM BOM

An icon and warning have been added to indicate if a total calculated mass of an assembly does not include any part or assembly instances that are excluded from the Bill of materials. This is true for computed values in the Bill of material's table, and the assembly properties dialog.
A calculated assembly mass viewed from the Mass and section properties dialog always includes all instances, regardless of their status in the BOM.

INDICATION OF MANUAL TESSELLATION OVERRIDE

Any instances using a tessellation setting other than "Auto" displays a diamond icon in the Instance list. Hovering over the icon provides a tooltip showing the selected tessellation level.

STRUCTURE VIEW

A new Structure view option is now available from the Documents page.
Structure view shows the latest released components, with all contained references indented below. The top-level node shown in Structure view will always reside in the selected folder you have navigated to, but the references below are shown exactly as they are in the structure of the design, even if they reside in separate documents and in other folders. Structure view is a new way to quickly understand a full reference tree, properties, and revision history for your complete product.

TRANSFORM ELEMENT

It is now possible to Transform all element types in Render Studio scenes with the exception of faces. Rotation and scaling transforms now take place around an origin point automatically placed at the center of all of the selected elements.

HIDDEN AND SUPPRESSED IMPROVEMENTS

Performance improvements have been implemented in this release to make hiding and showing parts in a Render Studio faster than before.
Additionally, components can now be suppressed or unsuppressed in a Render Studio. Unlike hiding a component (which is a per-user/session action), suppressing or unsuppressing an element persists across sessions. See the help documentation for more details.

DUPLICATE APPEARANCE

You may now easily duplicate an appearance from the Appearances list's right-click context menu. This is extremely useful for any appearances you have heavily customized. You can duplicate the appearance to make a variation, without having to recreate it from scratch.

Changes have been made to how part, assembly, and subassembly appearance data is handled. You will find improved performance when assigning appearances to a large number of elements at once. This change also helps with loading times in Render Studios with a large number of parts and appearances.
