I am trying to Curve text onto this model

So this is a golf tee that I imported into onshape. As you can see it has so many edges and vertices (side note, Is it possible to clean the model up so you dont click on the lines and vertices all the time when trying to select the part?). My goal is to put a name on the side of this tee. I want it to be extruded out from the side not indented in as that would be bad for the strength of the tee i feel. How do I put the test on the side so it matches the curvature of the tee... Unlike how you see below
Thanks in advanced

Easiest approach to get the text: make a cylinder with a diameter slightly less than that of the tee, use the Wrap feature to put the text onto that, then boolean it into the tee.

Split works but neither adding to the head in extrude nor boolean a cylinder back to the head works. - Scotty
