Straight knurl

tj_thornileytj_thorniley Member Posts: 65
Is there a way to quickly add a straight knurl to the external surface of a cylindrical object? Below are some examples, but the pattern doesn't necessarily have to be so dense; the grooves can be spaced apart further. It's for a finger-grip type surface on a part I want to 3D print.

    Sure.

    Here's one method.
    (a) Sketch on flat end of cylinder
    (b) Draw single triangular profile of knurl
    (c) Extrude remove triangle
    (c) Circular face pattern to make all the other cuts.

It's a shape 3D printers are good at; I've had some success making tools for the folks at work like this.
