How can i get movement along two axis at the same time on a universal joint?

I'm figuring out how to create a universal joint, but I've some problems with the motion; the cross should be able to rotate on both yokes, but right now I don't know how to combine the two movements. When I move one yoke along the axis I've choosen I'm not able to move the cross also in the other direction. At the end the I can't move anything because there are some constraints and I don't know how to solve it.

    You can think of it exactly as it moves in the real world.

    Each axis of the cross is revolving around the pin in the yellow joint

    so it is as simple as that. Every axis is just a revolute mate attached to the yellow pin hole.
    (4) axis in total, so (4) revolute mates in total.

    To get the animation above there are (i'm assuming) hidden parts on the two opposite ends. Each of the yellow ends will also have (1) revolute mate to that hidden part.

    Everything else should be (forced) into position. Any more mates would over define it and it won't work

    Almost forgot the fixed mate attaching the two u-joints (if you wanted two as shown in the model above)
