Some of the entities could not be used when trying to create thread from a helix.

I have the helix on the extruded faces of the posts. Created the sketch with a equilateral triangle for the sweep remove extrude. After I select the edge of the triangle and the helix, I press the pierce button.
I get the message Some of the entities could not be used. I can’t figure out why, I created a single post “test” with the same process, and it worked fine. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/6455c5cf0ebee06dbf539786/w/7f54cf4507171fdf91fa2084/e/0ed7efdd4375af

The sketch plane in the first document you shared does not intersect any of the helices, so pierce cannot give a valid result since the helices do not intersect the sketch plane. If you change the sketch plane to intersect, pierce works as you would expect.
However, in this case, I would recommend using the Thread Creator FeatureScript (just click the "Custom features" button near the top left corner and click on "threadcreator.fs" -- no need to make a copy of the document). You can find it in your toolbar in Part Studios at the top right. It lets you automatically thread cylindrical faces (both protrusions and holes) according to various standards.
