Isometric section view?

Cedric_EveleighCedric_Eveleigh Member, OS Professional, csevp Posts: 61 PRO
Is it possible to create an isometric section view in Onshape drawings? For example, the part in an isometric section view could be sectioned in a plane that is parallel to the front plane.

I don't think this is available natively, but you could use Michael Pascoe's section feature:

In combination with, say, Neil Cooke's wire mesh feature:

Then, combine the grids/wire meshes into a closed composite part to keep things tidy, and put their suppression under a configuration:

In the drawing, insert the whole part studio with the sectioned configuration for your iso view and just the unsectioned part by itself for the other views:

While this isn't exactly standards-based, it's probably good enough for communicating the design.

Note: if you have a part studio with multiple parts, you could make another composite part (probably best to do it open to keep appearances in case you need a shaded view) that contains the mesh composite part + your part to use in drawings. Then, insert the composite part instead of the whole part studio for the iso view.

Thanks for this suggestion, but it's not worth the trouble for me. It would be nice if the functionality that I'm after was available natively.
