Pictures grayed out

I am doing a design of a picture frame.  To illustrate how it would look with a picture in it, I put in a picture.  When I place the picture in the sketch, it looks like this:
but when I close the sketch, it looks like this:
How do I get the lower one to resemble the color saturation of the upper one?

    You can’t without editing the sketch. Sketch pictures are for reference only.
