  • We are looking into multiple ways to let you specify a custom orientation when creating drawing views.  We're aware that right now it can be difficult or impossible to get the orientation you want without transforming the part, and that it's importa…
  • We're aware of the need for these enhancements and have begun work on some parts of them.  It's too early to know when they'll be ready.  Keep in mind that you might not get them all at once.  For example, you might get the hole callouts in one upda…
  • We're aware that this is a top issue and are planning it.  If you have preferences on how to auto-position and size views, title block, borders, etc. on the new size of sheet, let us know.
  • brucebartlett said: When I add a sheet a second, third or fourth sheet I want to be able to chose a template, ideally to match the first one, is this posible? Also I can't even seem to adjust page size on the second sheet, is this posible? …
  • Hello everyone.  Sorry for my delay in responding.  There seems to be a problem with my email notifications.   @pete_lozano007  Yes, I can still benefit from seeing sample templates, especially if they don't look exactly right upon import to Onshap…
  • You're not doing anything wrong.  This was most likely an intermittent problem on our side.  If it still happens, please file a bug.
  • Hi Andy,   We don't yet have a direct means to edit the line widths, and it's unclear at this time when we'll have that or how it will look.    I'll explain a workaround you can use in the meantime, but first let me explain something about how our …
  • When you get the black background, you should see a small box in the upper left which says "Model", in the place where the sheet name normally goes. This is an indication that you are using what's called the "Model Space" of the DWG format, which is…
  • Right now there's no way to do this directly in Onshape, so yes, you'd have to create a blank dwg file elsewhere and import it as a template.   I suggest making two enhancement requests.  One to make E and F size sheets available, and another to req…
  • Good question.   Right now there's no way to modify the angle of a view, but we've had a lot of interest in that and have been working on it.  Stay tuned.
  • The small cube is available to you when using part studios and assemblies, but not drawings.   Are you looking for it in a part studio and not seeing it there?
  • brucebartlett said: zoltan_szabo said: My question for title block filling up is how I can prepare my existing custom templates with these system parameters? As I tried, it works with default Onshape templates, but I would like to use…
  • Indeed, right now there is no way to modify it after a drawing is created.  The only way to control it at this time is to edit your templates in a DWG editor, then import and use those templates when you create the drawing.
  • UX stands for User Experience.  It's not related to any operating system.  It's more about user interface and software behavior.
  • Yes, we are having a problem with re-importing of our own views right now.  It can make sense to report it as a bug even if we are already aware of it, as it can help with prioritizing. As for the export, it could be that your DXF viewer defaults y…
  • We are aware of the desire for this as there have been requests for it.  It will happen eventually, but we don't have the timeframe planned yet.
  • Bruce, we have plans to make a template selectable when adding sheets to drawings, but right now it can't be selected at (or after) sheet creation time.  The only workaround is to create a .DWT file which has a second sheet with the template desired…
  • @andrew_troup  Thank you for your suggestions regarding detail views.  As you probably know this is just the beginning for detail views.  Given the variety of appearances which standards allow and which can be found in use, we'll have to be adding m…
  • We agree that it's essential and inevitable.  It is indeed getting near the top of our list.
  • @joris_kofman  As Lou said, performance is a focus for us, especially right now for drawings, but we're still in the early stages of our current efforts to improve drawings performance.  Any improvements you saw were small compared to what we still …
  • It is not yet available, but we have begun working on it, as we agree that it's very important.  At this point I don't have a good idea on when it will be available.  The first version of it will not have all the possible options defined by GD&T…
  • Thanks Kevin and everyone.  This is great feedback.
  • @andrew_troup  Thank you for your feedback.  Your perspective makes sense.  Drawings were released early because they were better than the option that users had up until then, which was nothing at all.  We agree that we still need to add some basic …
  • Anyone who can wait a month or so will find the flexibility of their template choices greatly increased, with choice of angle projection being a part of that.  That's about all I can say for certain at this point. We want to give people the templat…
  • We are making plans for making this easy to do at the drawing template level, meaning when first creating the drawing.   Our short-term plans don't include the ability to change angle projection after the drawing is created, but you will be able to …
  • Instead of clicking on the Chrome (or browser's) hamburger menu and print, use the hamburger menu inside Onshape, which is located in the upper left, next to the Onshape logo.   The print command in that menu will work for you.  The other way to pr…
  • For everyone's information, we haven't yet implemented the ability to have a default scale for a model on a sheet, but we will eventually.  After that, new views will default to that scale (unless they're some form of child view whose scale is based…
  • Perhaps each of you can help us figure out some of the details of detail views (I didn't intend a pun there ).  Standards and conventions seem to have changed a lot over the years as far as: * the shape of the boundary on both the …
  • The lack of ability to change settings such as units and decimal separator are indeed due to the early stage of development, and nothing else.  We need to allow a lot more customization of drawing properties.  Your feedback will help us determine wh…
