  • We'll have support for larger paper sizes and provide pre-made templates with A through D and A0 through A4 sizes.   You could make other, custom-sized templates in any software which edits DWG files, then load them into Onshape for more paper size …
  • @brucebartlett  That functionality has been in our plans for a while, but as of now it's not scheduled for a specific date.  We know it's important to a lot of people so it's fairly high on the priority list.  However, the kind of links I'm thinkin…
  • @3dcad  Yes, 2013 format would be a problem for your use case.  Thank you for sharing that. I believe there are different export use cases where the most recent version is preferable, so to give you "export oldest version" we would either need to ma…
  • Regarding the first question, it's most likely the different versions of DWG/DXF we export.  DXFs from sketches are created in Release 9 format, (from the early 90s, I think), so that just about any laser cutter or similar machine can take it as inp…
  • Dave, please file a bug with a copy of your .dwt, or a link to its uploaded location in a shared document, so I can diagnose what's going on.
  • @da_vicki  Right now, you get first angle projection if your MEASUREMENT variable is set to Metric, and 3rd angle if it's set to Imperial.  We plan to have a separate control for angle projection in the future, since MEASUREMENT also controls other …
  • That is a good point and has been brought up in some of our usability testing.  The update button is partially to allow users to have control of when the geometry updates, so if, say, someone else is modifying the part, the drawing isn't constantly …
  • Thank you for the feedback!  Both of these things are already in our plans.  Your feedback helps us to prioritize them.  Everybody should feel free to repeat or vote up ideas which they also want.
  • @david_sohlstrom,  John's comment was spot on, that for the purpose you describe, using the "Export as DXF/DWG" command in Part Studio is the best way to go.  If you do find other reasons to use a custom sheet size or blank template or custom templ…
  • David, did you mean that you want to configure which views are automatically created, or that you want 0 views automatically created, so you can insert them by hand?   If the latter, Bob has just answered how to do that.  If the former, I'd like to …
  • DXF/DWG export of surfaces & sketches is now in R11 format, as of last night's update.   https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/635/improvements-to-onshape-april-22-2015#latest Please let us know if this meets your needs, and what else we can do …
  • DXF/DWG export of surfaces & sketches is now in R11 format, as of last night's update.   https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/635/improvements-to-onshape-april-22-2015#latest Thanks for your feedback, as it helped us see that this solution was j…
  • Devon_Sowell said: @Jon McIntyre please include single line Fonts for Water/Laser/Plasma cutting/etching and make these special Fonts easily identifiable for use without having to remember their names/location. Thanks Devon, are you tal…
  • Drawings are indeed much harder than many people think.  I've worked on two different drawing packages now so I've seen the common perception that because drawing implementation isn't as technically challenging as the hardest 3D challenges, it shoul…
  • I've been enjoying reading all of the ideas here.  We'll definitely be using your comments to guide us as we improve drawings long-term, but first we need to get you something basic.  The first version of drawings will be very minimal, just enough t…
  • @Kevin Quigley , back in November, you made several suggestions, one of which was "make it easier to update drawing title blocks". Which information in a title block do you most often update?   At what point in your process do you update it, and ho…
  • So much good feedback this week!  We'll be reading all of it.  I'm a couple days behind so forgive me for the lateness of my question,  for @Devon_Sowell . Some people say layers are essential.  What aspects of layers makes you not want them?   Usab…
  • Hi @Spiked3 , I understand.  I was just responding to BruceBartlett's comment, as it looked like others had already answered you.  Right now there's no solution for the version issue within Onshape itself, but we will fix that.
  • We have definite plans to allow version 2000 to be selectable during DWG/DXF export in the near future.  More options are being considered as well.  Keep the feedback coming on which DXF export options you most want to see.
  • We need to get bill's enhancement request, and these problems logged, with details on how to reproduce them.
  • The thickness is set on the Onshape side.   As a workaround, in Draftsight, you can get to the command line prompt and type LWDISPLAY.  Set the value to Off.   We have lineweights on by default for regular drawing creation (yes, we're working hard …
  • Bruce, the DWG/DXF version is 2013.    We're investigating the units issue.
  • Love the animations. They really help to understand what the enhancements are.
