How to create a ring (jewelry) with a varying cross-sectional profile (varying height and/or width)
I'm new to CAD/OnShape, trying to do as stated in the title. I am not sure if there is a standard way of designing a shape like this, but ideally I'd like to specify multiple profiles around the band of the ring (say, at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees) to sweep between (interpolating the shape of the resulting solid between… -
Can you adjust version description text? Format issue
The Versions and History view of a document is very useful to quickly read the descriptions of its versions. However, this happens (see image). The description is cut due to the width of the Description column. I couldn't get a way to adjust this width. The best solution would be to simply adjust the text to the width of… -

Re: .stl file size?
It's worth noting that min facet width overrides chordal tol which overrides angular deviation - meaning that if you set a large min facet width, it would not be possible to attain a small chordal or angular setting. I would not concern yourself with angular - chordal tol will get you closest to your required shape… -

Re: Generating flat patterns from rolled profiles
First time asking something here, but bear with me. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/728cdc12963545ec1d3d10e1/w/b49176ac2469d0f5e27eef99/e/d33e5866408864e4a52424c4 In this file, if I've done it right, the green part, because of its variable width on the curve, what it would look like if flat instead of rolled into a ring. -
opPlane, what are height and length relative to?
export function opPlane(context is Context, id is Id, definition is map) I expected that 'length' and 'height' are always relative to the x and y directions of the defined Plane. However, i've found that they do not behave this way. Instead, the height and width seem to be based on something else. Consider this code: const…
