Drawings: how to create dimensions not vertical or horizontal

I'm trying to create a drawing with dimensions that measure lengths on an angle. But i can't figure out how to get the dimension to measure the shortest path between two points. For isntance, i want to know the straight line distance between two hole centers, not the vertical or horizontal distance. How do you make the dimension snap to align with the points being dimensioned?
