Mixed modeling not possible with an education license?
I import several meshes in a partstudio. However I use both .obj files and .stl files it doesn't result in mixed modeling. I can open the partstudios with the imported meshes. I can delete som parts, but not add some parts, or use boolean as seen in a Youtube movie. What's going wrong or isn't it not possible with an education license?

Mixed modeling works on the Educator Plan. Perhaps share your document and we can see what's going wrong.

itโs likely your imports are not water tight meshes.

Good point. If your mesh isn't water tight, i.e. it does not enclose a solid volume, then it is just a collection of surfaces and it won't behave like a solid and won't respond to solid modeling techniques.

Here's my project. I made it a public one.
It's indeed with several problems, and not water tight. How can I solve that?

you could do a series of splits/encloses to narrow down the problem area but with a tree that could be a nightmare.

Not to advertise an Autodesk product on a PTC forum, but Meshmixer has tools to find holes in meshes and close them up. Windows 3d viewer has some too but with less control.

I checked it. there are no holes. not sure what the issue is. I had another STL last night that was acting the same way. no holes but would not import solid. had to remesh the problem area to get it to work.

I worked out a new object in my Public document generated by Vizcom. This mesh is water tight imported. I changed it by adding a solid, and by deleting that solid resulting in a hole in the mesh. Problem now was, that the generated mesh itself had some faults. The woman figure missed one leg, and the suitcase is too long. The choice of the program to convert a 2D picture to a 3D mesh is therfore important. Who had suggestions? And are they for free?
