Loft with two guides doesn't work

HerrrCulesHerrrCules Member Posts: 3

Hey all,

I had already often problems with lofts, but the actual loft gets me crazy.
The Feature "Winglet Übergangsbogen" doesn't work.

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a138fe94d7d1cc480c782009/w/549f911486f55a507d4050ca/e/2f3fd09df23d66ba4577e91c?renderMode=0&tangentEdgeStyle=2&uiState=6a4f6b48244defd18d26d0db No matter what I try, I cannot loft between the two profiles with the guidance of trailing edge and nose edge. Trailing edge guide alone does work, but the nose edge always crashes… I really hope you can help me. Thanks a lot!
PS: I hope the link is working, otherwise here is a second one: There was an error displaying this embed.

There are a number of issues that you might want to look into:
    - the Wing Aussen airfoil sketch is made of piecewise line/arc segments and has a number of jumps in curvature
    - there is a large (11 degree) intersection angle between segments at the leading edge of the same sketch - this will cause all sorts of issues when you try to use Connections
    - the break in tangency (mentioned previously) is in a different location than the end of the Curve 3 which you want to use for the Guide, again this will make the Connections very complicated

I messed around in a new public link copy here and tried a couple of things:
    - I made a couple of approximated Composite curves instead of the Wing Aussen airfoil sketch (basically it approximated the piecewise segments into a continuous spline)
    - I made a new guide curve for the leading edge, and I started it from the more obvious location. If you compare Curve 7 (my new one) and the old Curve 3 you'll see they are very close, but the strat point is shifted.

With the new profile curves and the new guide curve, the loft completes without issue. Except for the fact that there is a dihedral of 11 degrees as previously mentioned. I think you should focus on fixing the Wing Aussen airfoil sketch some more and then things should fall into place.
