There are also a few FeatureScript improvements, mostly thanks to @Anton_Bovin:

    2. opSplitByIsocline will now let you split part faces into regions by normal angle relative to a given direction.  Can be useful for mold work and 3D printing.

Here is a feature that will split the faces of a part along a direction, making a mould split line: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/2dd6d1fe1d89637ea7fc1963

    Nice stuff.

BUT - still waiting for ways to group (as in - sub-folders?) in the Assembly "Instances" tree.
Also - we're "dying" to have a way to apply an image to the surface of a part.
And there simply has to be a way to create a dummy part of a largely perforated piece of sheet metal so that it doesn't have all the regen math happening in the background.

For planar faces, you could use sketch images as a workaround for now.

Please report your slow sheet metal models to support so that we can have a look at improving them.  A while back we did some improvements for highly perforated sheet metal, so it may be that your document just needs a manual tweak to use the new code, or it could be that there is something unique about your case (and we would love to see it so that we can make it faster).

I'd be happy to share one of the sheet metal parts with you to take a look at.
Ideally, we would like to perforate the whole part, so that when we add it to the assembly model, the whole thing can be used for going to rendering software for publications. But the size of the file and regen time as is current, would never work for very large models, unless as you say there have been dramatic updates to this.

That makes a lot of sense.  Please get in touch with us about his performance issue by pressing the contact support button in the ? menu of your part studio:

Make sure to check the "Share this document with Onshape support" button as well, so we can get a look at why specifically the document is slow.

@Jake_Rosenfeld the performance is very poor, due to a few factors
You can not create some kind of array patterns inside of the flat model.

Here is an example with some tricks to improve the performance

Yes, in general pattern should be faster than cut for sheet metal.  Please submit an improvement request for pattern in flat as well!
