Edit BOM QTY

Michael_CoffeeMichael_Coffee Member Posts: 90 ✭✭✭
In our assembly, we have a model for our flex hose, but need to be able to edit the quantity in the BOM. I've seen sometimes where you can edit the part number and description directly in the BOM because the part you're referencing lives in the same document and wondered if maybe we can do the same thing with the quantity.

We did try the route of using items in the assembly, which does allow us to directly input the value we want. However, if we want it to display "50 FT" instead of just "50", it doesn't like that. Items might be the way to go for the BOM, but it'd be nice if we can have it display what we type.

Any help is appreciated =D

@Michael_Coffee, right now we do not allow editing the quantity field of a BOM. However, if you create an item for your flex hose, you can specify both the quantity and the unit of measure. You can add the "Unit of measure" column to your BOM to see it displayed and then reorder the columns in a way that makes sense. If you don't want the item and the modeled part to show up as 2 separate line items in your BOM, you can exclude the modeled part from the BOM.

I was thinking I might have to do that. Instead of the "Unit of Measure" column, we'll just have in the description that the quantity is read in feet. Space wise on the BOM, we don't see a point of adding the column when it would be the only item measured in feet, so the description change is good enough for us. Maybe later down the line an option for adding the text as a "sub-field" could be done, but in the mean time, we'll keep on going. Thank you! =)
