receiving a"boolean operation failed to return a vaild part"why is this and how do i work around it?

how do i get the yellow and blue parts into 1 part?

    nvm, i was able to do what i wanted without them being a singluar part. but knowing how to in the future would be nice

    If you share a link to a public document it will be easier to help figure this out. My first guess is that there is some very small gap between the two parts or they only touch at an edge, or they overlap slightly in a weird way.
