Have you tried a curve pattern with a curve along the axis of the mobius strip? There is a tangent to curve option. (View Post)1 -

Do you see how you have Surface selected at the top of the Extrude dialog? Change that to Solid and then you will see remove. (View Post)1 -

I think I get what you're trying to do. One option would be to make the Grip Sleeve extrusion taller then make the Button Cover sketch a cut rather than an extrude. (View Post)1 -
