Re: Loft pics up unwanted sketch
The sketch has a "Disable imprinting" option. Alternately, you can select both the inner and outer faces of the first sketch into the first loft profile. (View Post)1 -

This is a common limitation in CAD. You can't manufacture zero-thickness geometry anyway, so Matt's suggestion is to essentially make the part physically possible. (View Post)1 -
