How to specify a linetype for a part or assembly when it is shown in a drawing view ?
Hi 
Out client wants to see close by geometry in GA drawings for some of the equipment we design.
This exsting near geometry should be shown with dashed / hidden linetype in the drawing. The purpose is to make it easy to understand where this part/assy is loctated.
I know this can by done in Solidworks, but is there a way to do it in Onshape ??

Re: Why are fastened offsets sign (+/-) a crap shoot?
@tim_hess427 I think you're right.
Another way to see is that when you change the mate's z-offset to a positive number, it's the first part you selected that moves in Z+ direction relative to it's own Mate Connector .... This can be confusing becuase we conceptually think about the two parts we are mating as moving toward / away from each other. However, I think the movement is ONLY related to the first selected part's Mate Connector axis direction. It's almost as if the offset is really only affecting the first part relative to itself.

Re: New Feature: Freeform Spline
After the rollout of the new Loft connections I got to thinking about something similar for Freeform Spline. With some input from @ilya_baran on how the new manipulator works, I got this added to the feature (update to V18 to use it). I think it will make this tool way better for surfacing and will also help with certain cable routing situations. I'll make a new tour video with explanations, but in short:

- you can now pick an edge as a reference
- when you do the point snaps to the closest spot on the edge and you get a new UI for parameter instead of XYZ and a new tangent manipulator to move it.
- if you de-select it, you go back to the XYZ triad and world space
