Re: how do i create a solid from these two sketches
Close the sketch on Plane 2 horizontally at the bottom, forget about wall thickness for now, extrude the single resulting sketch surface, then use the sketch on the Top plane zu cut it to shape or rather just remove the corner, add the fillet to the cutout, then use the shell tool to hollow everything out.

Re: Why is it not possible to "Derive" a part from "Standard content"?
They are just public documents that are not available in the normal search context.
I made a quick featurescript to show its possible. The problem is that its a bit of a pain to setup for even just one part, you need to run a few API commands to get the information required.
If you are desperate for a work around, put the standard content into an assembly, create an in context part studio, and then linear pattern the part into a part studio.
Re: Why is it not possible to "Derive" a part from "Standard content"?
Regarding standard content today, do you use the part number capability for your own needs? And along those lines, do you prefer to see all of your part numbered content bubble up to take priority over new content you may configure?
Re: out of memory?
Followup: I've tested a bit from a guest session and I haven't experienced any crashes, so it's a fair guess that it's an interaction between OnShape and one of my Chrome Extensions. There's no way for me to guess whether it started with an update to an extension or an update to OnShape.
I've removed extensions I don't need anymore and disabled ones I don't need all the time. If I can isolate a specific extension I'll update, but at least this provides a potential workaround for anyone else encountering this.
Re: Spines on a shaft
Hello Benjamin. One way is via the sketch's Circular Pattern tool. - Scotty
Re: Routing curve & Control point curve - Introduction of two new features for 3D curve creation
Another update to the feature with new things:
- The derivative can be made with respect to X,Y or Z of the triad. This is especially useful when a mate connector is the point reference (in that case the Z direction will probably be what you intend)
- The number of spans for the curve is displayed (Num spans) underneath the Degree of the curve
Re: Hotkey to automatically add equal constraints during sketch geometry creation
Oh, and if you do select a bunch of things and set them equal (shortcut is 'e' key), the order of selection will determine what constraints are created.
- Select A, B, C, D
- Hit equal
- You get B=A, C=A, D=A
If you change the order:
- Select D, C, B, A
- Hit equal
- You get C=D, B=D, A=D
Depending on what changes you're likely to do in the future, you may want to be very conscious of this order.
Re: Hotkey to automatically add equal constraints during sketch geometry creation
@S1mon I'm sure I knew that. I might just have forgotten it. cough
Re: Hotkey to automatically add equal constraints during sketch geometry creation
I assume you know that you can select a bunch of things and set them equal in one operation?
