Re: Machine definition files in CAM Studio
@michael3424 : "That works well enough, but I am hoping that Onshape would have a more sophisticated approach."
Yes , these were exactly my thoughts. Since machines in any shop might be customized or even custom built to a purpose, there'd be need for a tool to configure whatever machine we have, not only supporting certain suppliers from a small part of the world.
Onshape Cam Studio Questions
Does anyone know anything about the level of things we will be able to do in onshape cam, especially when advanced is released? The biggest things I would need in order for me to switch to using it is full post processor editing, as I have a lot of customizations I have done to my current cam systems posts, and expressions/parameters in the fields, because the way I am setup currently all the toolpath settings are autofilled from the tool, and toolpath templates. would love to find out if some of this stuff is on the road map, as I quite like onshapes cad, and would switch all my cam over very gladly to advanced if it could work for me eventually. one man job shop for context, running 3-5 axis milling, turning, etc.
Re: How to prevent unintended/undesired constraints
If you keep the shift key pressed while placing a sketch element then the automatic constraint inferences will be ignored.
Re: Remove sweep overflow
An option would be to apply a mate connector to the top and bottom flat surfaces and use those to Split the part. The split tool has options on which resulting parts of the original to keep. This does not result in a clean start or end to the thread. You may want to look into the Thread Creator. - Scotty
Re: Struggling to turn a curvy 3D-scan mesh into a worthy surface
@glen_dewsbury Thanks for that last bit of advice! I'm pretty satisfied with how it's turning out. The print needed more support material so as not to string, but it's going to be good enough for a first-fit test.
