Re: Custom Materials List
I think it's better to let go of trying to add plant species to the material list.
It's probably more suitable to create a custom property LAI and set it with a simple FS and call upon those to calculate the Green Plot Ratio.
same goes for the plants area, which may need some additional selection. I don't know how you model this, but if they are parts, how else is Onshape going to know which surfaces of the part to be using for the calculation?
Re: Mass moment of inertia
- Moments of inertia
- Calculated with respect to the common centroid of the selected parts/faces (not the Part Studio/assembly origin)
- For parts, calculated using the densities of the assigned materials assigned. Any selected parts without materials assigned are omitted from the calculation. If no materials are assigned to any selected parts, no calculation is made.
Re: Is there a way to change default part colours? (Blue, then gray, then dark blue, etc.)
So for the non techie that's a hard NO to the original question. 😃

Re: Is there a way to change default part colours? (Blue, then gray, then dark blue, etc.)
Colour cycle is hard coded.
Re: Mass moment of inertia
also, you can provide a Mate connector as a reference frame for the calcs.
Re: Dimension tool
Dimensions are available while sketching and during drawing production.
In assembly the dimensions are in the mates.
Dimensions in part studios are part of mate connecters and features such as extrude length etc.
Not available for over view dimensions in part studio or assembly.
There is a measuring tool in part studio and assembly but they are not permanent unless using them to make variables when indicated.
Re: Pipe ( NPT ) Threads again
@Oliver_Couch - Here is a link to newer version, NPT tap & die models (male & female), 1/16" to 6" dia. They are to ASME B1.20.1 standards. I may add larger sizes later, but this is a start. After talking to him, I'm going to work with @EvanReese on his F.S. after Thanksgiving holiday. Tell me what you think.
Still a few minor issues to work through, to make it F.S. ready, but all configurations seem to work properly.
It is a bit tricky to get all the configurations to work, seems like there is always one problem child.
Re: To Sweep or Not to Sweep . . .
@Oliver_Couch - Send me a "DM" and I'll share some insight on solutions to those kind of problems
New Feature: Detect Symmetry
Its been a bit since I've posted any new custom features, so here's a tiny little helper: Detect Symmetry (Inspired by this discussion)
This feature detects differences in symmetrical parts. Symmetry can be across a plane or rotationally along an axis.
Differences are highlighted in red when the feature is open, and a message pops up showing the number of differences (or if none are detected).
You can check out this feature, or many other helpful features on fs.place
