Re: What is the best way to extract or make a sketch of this profile?
An other way would be to split part at an existing plain. That will produce a face that can be selected with use. If you need to make other adjustments to initial profile then delete constraints and add dimensions as needed.

Re: Forcing point-to-point dimension to be aligned rather than horizontal/vertical
Yes that is possible although esoteric it is easy. With things like this knowing it works is most of the battle; then with persistent trial you can figure out how.
See the gif below. It has to do with where you are dragging the location cursor after choosing the points.

Re: How can you smoothly connect two circles on different planes with a tube?
@christopher_brett
Using the 3D Lines FS plus a couple of reference lines to help the FS define the vertices...you get this. The length of the reference lines are not equal because the angles between the 3D Line and the Front plane and Top plane are not equal. You can make the reference lines longer, but make those lines any shorter you start to run into intersecting geometry issues.
This is the ONLY sketch geometry needed to create this.
Here is a link to show how I did it.

Re: Anybody have a feature for exploded views in a part studio?
I just wrote the basics as an example:

Not published, not supported, but it should do what you want (quick n dirty explode in part studio).

Re: Fix Broken Mates option and dialog
You can use the filter with :errors to filter the tree to only show errors.
If you also have a bunch of other errors that aren't mate you can combine filters ":mate :errors"

Re: How to search for a Document Name, when only a few middle characters are known.
Eldon. I just tried the same thing and it worked. Are you sure that you have a document that includes that name or maybe a misspelling in the document name?
