Why Cant I edit imported DWG files in Onshape?

I have Imported some of my 2 D dwg files into my document and am unable to cut and past these parts to fit on one of my Onshape models? When import the Dwg file or Dxf it shows the file but wont let me work with it unless I buy an add on? I was told that I could import my 2 d drawings and work with them in my modeling? What am I missing?
