Can I send a model to a 3d printer?

I have a makerbot and I want to print one of my designs but I'm not sure how to from OS.

Typically you would export the design from Onshape to an STL file on your local drive and then use your slicer to import the STL file and select 3D print parameters. Does that make any sense?5
