Release Drawing Only

I like the fact that drawings and parts have different part and revision numbers in our system. But, why am I forced to release a part in order to release a drawing, for which, the part has not been modified. It seems part of the advantage of released the parts separate from drawing would be in this specific case, the part does not have to be released.

There are several ways to reference a Revision rather than a workspace part. One of them is:
On the tab of the Drawing, right-click and select "Change to Version..." and select your desired Revision of the part.
