How to make a hidden object not show up in Drawings?

I have a model that has parts I use as references for circular patterns etc. I do not want them in drawings but if I suppress them the pattern fails and if I hide them, they show up in the drawing anyway. Is there a way to hide them in the drawings?

This is by design and prevents issues with collaborative editing where drawing views are being un-knowingly affected from users hiding/showing parts in assemblies. If you want something other than "Show all" in drawing views, you can create a display state in the assembly and then reference that display state from the drawing views.6
