I cannot dimension a slot

I have created a slot using the slot tool; however when I double click on the Mac pad dimensions, to add dimensions the slot disappears and I am not prompted to add dimensions. I have managed to get the slot to change to blue but I cannot use the dimension tool to to change anything. I just get red errors. Please help.

    Seems like you have not ended the slot sketch. So the slot sketch is still active. Check this in the feature bar if the slot button is still highlighted. When finished the slot sketch around your sketch line, it should look like in the picture. Note: When a sketch appears blue, it is not fully defined, black lines mean fully defined.
