Qestion about creating a screw joint to control hinge

Hello Everyone.  I am working on modeling up a barn door tracker for astrophotography and have most things i believe to be assembled how they should be.  I have am having trouble with the last part.   I'm looking to model a motor turning a threaded rod which would in turn open/ close the hinge portion of my model.  I can't seem to figure out how to make it work as a unit, as i add the last mates in other ones freeze.

When the hinge opens, the nut axis is no longer aligned with the threaded rod. I think the nut will need to be able to rotate around a perpendicular axis "facing out of the screen" for this to work.

It seems, that the position of the hole is not correct. If you make the plates parallel, you see there is an offset between the spindle and the hole. I would check this first.
