modifier keys and manipulator change functions

is there a way to use modifier keys with a manipulator change function? For example if I have a set of point manipulators I can only pick one at a time, is there a way to pick multiple while holding SHIFT?

It's not currently possible for a points manipulator to specify multiple points simultaneously. Please submit an improvement request if this is functionality you want!0

Thanks, Kevin. I'd love this functionality for the Freeform Spline. The awesome Meta Sculpt feature has a workaround for multiple selections, which I'll have to dig into and see if it can work for me.
