How to animate double rack and pinion

I saw this YouTube video showing a pinion only partially having teeth, and is able to move back and forth on a double rack. I want to simulate that in onshape.
Here's what I was trying, and I know that I kind of need the rotation of the pinion to be in a different period than the translational motion. It's not the best description.
Is what I want to achieve possible in onshape? How should I do it?

Currently, Onshape does not have physical stops or relations built into assemblies. However, here is one approach you could take:

• Create a part that lets the pinion spin while sliding horizontally
• Create another part that is attached to the rack and will slide vertically
• Create another part that is attached to the vertical slider and the horizontal slider, I call this the "Animation Rod" This will attach to the sliders via revolution mates
• Add gear relations between the animation rod and the pinion

I did not have time to get the correct gear relation ratio set up, but here is the general concept:

I see that this is possible in your animation. But I still don't get how to set it up. May you share your document?
