How can I split a projected curve or navigate around this problem?

I am working on a mouse and have several projected curves and am looking to start beefing it up to some surfaces. But I have a curve that is too long and I need to shorten it to use it as a guide for a loft function. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!
And since I'm already on here, does anyone have any advice when designing a mouse? This is my first one.
