Wrap sketch onto cylinder

I'm trying to wrap a sketch to a cylinder, but I'm not able to select my sketch for the wrap. I've been able to wrap text onto the cylinder but not other sketches, is that all I can do with this tool?

    the sketch should consist of closed contours to make it possible, you can't get the curve as the result of wrapping with standard feature
