Dimension tool does not work

I'm a high school teacher and I have a student that can not use the dimension tool.  She can select it from the toolbar, it does turn blue, but when she goes to dimension a line segment it will not pull the dimension.  She gets the error message "An entity cannot be dimensioned to itself."

    Hi @karen_bogoski

Based on the error message, it seems like they are clicking on the same line twice. Since the dimension tool can be used to dimension between two entities, it will show that error when you click on the same entity (the line in this case) twice.

Check that the student is only clicking on the line once, and then moving the cursor over to an empty space before clicking again to place the dimension.

Alternatively, it could be a hardware issue. I've definitely used laptop track pads that would double click when I only wanted to click once because the trackpad was old and worn out. Using a different mouse might help in this case!

Thank you Domenico.  It could be either one, but I bet it is the device as they are using Chromebooks.

I have the same problem (using chrome on mac book) definitely only clicking once and tried 3 different mice including a track pad. I read somewhere else that a bug has been introduced recently. A pretty massive bug/miss if that is true.

An update to the last comment - I started a fresh new drawing and it doesn't have the same issue. Now just need to figure out what in the first drawing is causing it.

Are you talking about issues in sketcher or in drawings? The beginning of this thread is about sketch dimensions, not drawings.
