Create equal spaced points along a spline

After a spline in created, is there a way to project or pattern points along a (2D) spline? 

I've attached an example (that I did manually on the right spline), but a way to do this effeciently would be awsome.

There's a Featurescript which can place points along a spline with various parameters. Depending on how you want to measure things, it might work for you.

Close, but not quite.  This does make points measured along the spline, but I would like the points measure only the x, y, or z axis, and then placed on the spline (like an intersection almost).  Not sure if that makes sense.

I'm having a hard time putting it into words, so I've made a picture.  Hopefully this helps.

I understood what you are looking for. Somehow I thought that was an option of that FeatureScript. I suspect that someone with decent FeatureScript experience could use that one as a basis to modify or expand on that one to solve your need. It would be a useful tool in general, especially if patterning was built in or easily done with a feature pattern.
