How can I convert a fully enclosed surface to a solid?

I've created a sketch on the curved face of this cylinder using the wrap tool. When I attempt to revolve it, I'm only allowed to do so as a surface. Why, I'm not sure. The end goal is to subtract the revolved part from the cylinder, which appears to be impossible with a surface rather than a solid. I've looked in to converting surfaces to solids, and all I'm able to find is to enclose it with tools like the fill tool. These methods are of no help to me as the surface I aim to solidify is already fully enclosed. Images attached.
Thanks
