Thicken surface

Hello,
I’m working to create a silicon cover to a part.
I mad a zero offset of the outer surface of the part and tried to thicken the new surface, but it doesn’t work properly, due to geometric reasons.
Is there something wrong I’m doing or is there another way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Did you figure this one? I can't copy the document to make edits for testing. Off the top, what I would try is deleting some faces using a healing operation to try and reduce some of the tangent edges and maybe have the model smoothed over a bit more.0
