Improvements to Onshape - April 25th, 2022

We have been busy with our second release for April. This release brings a lot of improvements including mixed modeling! Check it out.

CAD IMPROVEMENTS

MIXED MODELING

Onshape now allows mixed modeling techniques with imported meshes.

REPLICATION IMPROVEMENTS

The powerful Replicate is more flexible with components that have mates to other components in the assembly.

IN CONTEXT EDITING IMPROVEMENTS

In context references now indicate when they might be out-of-date, and highlight specific references depending on the current context being edited.

DRAWING IMPROVEMENTS

Model version references update independently from the Sheets panel.

PROJECTED VIEW FROM AN AUXILIARY VIEW

You can now create projected views from an auxiliary view.

SPLIT CUTLIST TABLE

You can split Cut List tables in drawings.

DEFAULT HATCH OPTION PREVIEW

Inside Drawing properties > Views > Section views the Hatch pattern options now include a thumbnail preview.

STYLE PANEL IMPROVEMENTS

The Style Panel now includes geometric tolerances and notes.

MOBILE IMPROVEMENTS

REPLICATION IN IOS

Replicate is now fully supported in the iOS Onshape App.

RENDERING IMPROVEMENTS

EXPLODED VIEWS IN RENDERING

Render Studio can now import Exploded Views.

In 30+ years of working with CAD systems, I have NEVER seen the breath and depth of updates at this frequency while maintaining a clearly stable environment.   Amazing

Absolutely, i've been using Onshape for over 5 years and they still impress me with thier constant commit to their product every 3 weeks

Mixed modelling is seriously impressive, we use scan data a lot. Great to see time be spent on polishing the UI for the existing toolset, like the In-context references, Style Panel, Projected Auxiliary Views and Render Studio (although I'd still love to be able to add decals in RenderStudio?). Versions for drawing views is great, I've never had such a positive experience engaging with and using a piece of professional software as I've had with Onshape. The rate of change and development is incredible.

This is an impressive set of improvements, kudo OnShape/PTC team!

Mixed Modelling is very handy, as we'll now be able to work with .STL files.

Annnnnd thanks for fixing Replicate. That's a TIME SAVER.

John, it is possible today to apply stickers/decals inside the Render Studio environment. It is not a beginner workflow, mind you, but does give awesome results. Try this tutorial: https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/render-studio-interface.htm?Highlight=sticker
