How do I make a hole with Imported parts?

Hello.
I'm trying to make a hole on a imported part.
But I can't because I can't select merge scope.
How can I solve it?

It looks like the Merge Scope field is in pink which means it is not active. Try clicking in the Merge Scope field and then clicking on the object you want to merge with.

Could it be that the yellow shape is actually a surface ? You can use `Highlight boundary edges` to find the open boundary.
