Is there a way to create a variable when dimensioning?

skyeparker1skyeparker1 Member Posts: 9
I am creating a bunch of parts in parts studio and I find myself using the same dimension value over and over again for a dimension that may change later. Is there a way to reference a variable or parameter when dimensioning so these values may be updated later?

When entering your dimension, type "#" and a dialog will open that will allow you to make a new variable. Then you can reference that variable in other sketches and features in your Part Studio. If you use use Variable Studio to make a variable, it will be available in all of your Part Studios and Assemblies in your document. If you already have some variables declared, when you type # it will bring up your list of variables. You can move variables up and down your Feature List as well.

Check out Variables here, and Variable Studios here, and a technical briefing on using a couple of types of Variables here: Parametric Variables vs Configuration Variables.

    Good luck
