when I tried to extrude my car it kept on turning red and there wasn't any gaps.

    if you turn off the reference image. Is your sketch self enclosed? (is it a darkened gray area)?

    Could be that the extrude would generate something non-manifold. Does the sketch have four or more lines sharing a point anywhere?
