different angle

First day ! I have drawn my shape on the top plane, it's a triangle that is 4mm deep. Now I want to draw another rectangle to join one of the edges, but at a different angle to the plane, let's say the first shape is flat, horizontal and I want the second shape to rise approx 30 degrees to the horizontal. Every time I draw the second shape, it remains horizontal ! How can I rotate it to 30 degrees above the horizontal line ?
Or is there a good you tube I can watch that will explain this ? TIA

One option would be to sketch on the Right plane.  Then extrude your new geometry it.  Try "symmetric" or "up to vertex" for end type.

Exactly that, but it doesn't work for me ! for some reason it swans off to one side, and I can't get the angle on screen, so it's just at whatever angle I draw it. I draw a line 40mm long 4mm thick then try to extrude it to the 66mm, but it attaches to the centre and goes 66mm left. Oh and I can't find Symmetric.
