Designing a logo.

I have the basic idea of extruding and building shapes etc. I have a picture of my logo as a sketch and I’m tracing the geometry on an extruded square. I’m trying to remove material so that my printer doesn’t print the actual logo, basically a cut out. I make my sketch, square, extrude to 5mm. I’m then trying to trace the outline of the logo then do a “remove extrude”. It keeps just going completely negative or just not showing the cutout at all. Somehow, I was able to get it to work from the reverse side (bottom plane)  but that makes it backwards and won’t work. I’m so lost. I’m new to cad in general and this has me stumped. I know it’s an easy thing but I’m just lost,

So, the version didn't save. Unfortunately I'm back to square one.  Here is a link. Again, what I'm trying to accomplish is to learn how to do this logo. I want to extrude the square up to 5mm then cut away the logo and text.

Hello Andrew. Your last extrude (extrude 1) has the face of extrude 2 selected as the remove. Sketch 3 would be the right selection to remove. It fails at first but just reverse the extrude direction to correct that.
