Looking for a texturing tutorial

I am rather new to onshape so this is probably a really dumb question

am trying to texture the outside surface of a cylinder with the
wood-grain texture. I only want to texture the curved surface (think
like a label on a soup can) but not the top and bottom. Is there a good
tutorial about how to texture a surface other than a flat plane?
