Education Account vs Free

I'm a mentor for my schools robotics teams (FTC for Middle and FRC for High school). Occasionally a kid will only be able to view a document in "View Only" mode. Does this mean they are not under the "Education" accounts, but the "Free" account?

If that is the case, how do they convert to the correct account?

Thanks

Hi @ian_osborn849. You are likely correct that they have a "Free" account instead of an "Education" account. EDU accounts need to be renewed after a year, so the student likely didn't renew or they signed up wrong initially. Alternatively, the document may only be shared as view-only with the student, so you will also want to check the share permissions if you haven't already.

To convert to the right account, just have them go the sign-up form here:https://www.onshape.com/en/education/sign-up
Make sure they fill out the form with the same email address as their current account. Submit the form and they will be prompted to sign-in. Once they sign-in they should be good to go!
