is there a way to change the order in which parts appear in the parts list?

    The only way I know is to create them in a different order, but I've never looked into it. Be interesting to see what else comes up.

    @ ann_monn, Did you mean parts list in part studio or assembly studio?
    If you are expecting it in assembly studio you can reorder it by dragging.
    If you are expecting it in part studio then you have to create it as required order as     andrew_troup mentioned.
