Hello all,
Im new to OnShape and Im having a problem just getting started. I have been trying to follow both online guides from OnShape and a few books but they are of no help.
My problem is I cannot get the sketching ribbon / menu to pop up. here are the steps Im following and I cannot get the ability to draw anything like a simple rectangle..
Open OnShape click Create->Document (I give it a name and it's created, so I got that at least). Next I select Sketch->orientation 'Top'->(at this point the sketching menu is on) check 'constraints and overdefined' -> click green checkbox for Sketch dialogue box. As soon as I click the Green checkmark the sketch ribbon disappears and I cant figure out how to get it back.
I have tried highlighting the top orientation and clicking on sketch1 in the sidebar - nothing, I have searched help articles and havent gotten anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
And If I'm doing something stupid I apologize in advance

Hi @james_collom, welcome to Onshape!
Once you start the sketch, it will need you to pick a plane. By default, the part studio starts out with 3 planes: Front, Top, and Bottom. Select one of those. Clicking the green check mark accepts your sketch, this is good to do, it will save your sketch over in the feature tree to the left side of your screen. Double click the sketch in the feature tree to edit it again at anytime.
I'm not sure which videos you are watching, but here are the ones I recommend. The Onshape Learning pathways are the way to go. Try starting out with Onshape Fundamentals: CAD learning pathway.
