Storing 3D slicer print files in Onshape

AcomaAcoma Member Posts: 10
Hi, one more beginner question: I am adjusting a lot of parameters in my 3D slicer program. Could I store such slicer files in Onshape in order to keep them together with the design document? I want to use the onshape document as my single source of truth for my entire workflow. Is that a good idea?

Many thanks!

    Hi there!

That's a great idea to use Onshape as a single source of truth for your entire workflow! You can certainly store your slicer files in Onshape alongside your design document. To import the file, follow these steps:

    1. Open your Onshape document.
    2. Click the "+" icon at the bottom left corner to add a new tab.
    3. Choose "Import" from the dropdown menu.
    4. Browse and select your slicer file, then click "Open" to import it.

In case you make changes to your slicer file later, you can easily update it in Onshape:

    1. Right-click the tab with your slicer file in Onshape.
    2. Select "Update linked file" from the context menu.
    3. Browse and select the updated slicer file, then click "Open" to replace the old version.

By following these steps, you'll have a well-organized Onshape document with all your design and slicer files in one place. Happy designing!

    Best regards!
