Constraint symbols shown in 'Creating Sketch Entities / Slot' tutorial aren't shown in my UI?

I'm viewing the above tutorial, and when it comes to the step (1:06) of showing constraints to be able to remove the '=' constraint, enabling 'Show constraints' shows only two '-' (horizontal) and two '|' (vertical) symbols.  Where did all the rest go?

    With the applicable sketch open for editing did you click on the "Show Constraints" box?

    Thanks for the quick response!

    After making this post I accidentally discovered that I hadn't 'finalized' the sketch by clicking on the green checkmark.  When I did so, all the missing constraints symbols became visible, just like in the tutorial material.  So I solved the problem, but now I have another question; why were *any* constraint symbols visible in the 'unfinished' sketch?
